The Afghan Association of Central Virginia is committed to helping Afghan individuals and families build stable, successful lives in our community. Through compassionate support, practical assistance, and community connections, we help newcomers navigate everyday challenges and access opportunities for growth.
Some of the areas we can help.

We provide interpretation and translation support remotely, by phone, virtually, and in person to help individuals communicate effectively with schools, healthcare providers, employers, government agencies, and other service organizations.

Our volunteers and partners help individuals strengthen their English language skills, increasing confidence in daily life, education, and the workplace.

We assist community members with job searches, resume preparation, interview readiness, and connecting with employment opportunities that align with their skills, experience, and goals.

Beyond finding a job, we help individuals pursue long-term professional growth through career planning, skills development, educational resources, and mentorship opportunities.

Finding safe and affordable housing can be challenging. We provide guidance, referrals, and support to help families identify housing options and navigate the rental process.

Understanding life in a new country can be overwhelming. We offer educational resources and guidance on cultural norms, civic engagement, community resources, and legal rights to help individuals thrive and participate fully in their communities.
